Introduction to CIMCO Edit v7
CIMCO Edit v7 is designed with the editing of CNC-programs in mind. It has a standard Windows user interface and functions in CIMCO Edit v7 can be activated through the Ribbon Bar. This helps you to find the needed commands in a quick and easy way.
The commands are organized into logical groups under 5 tabs:
- Editor
- NC-Functions
- Backplot
- File Compare
- Transmission
The tabs let you access needed functions and configure settings in order to modify parameters.
On the following sections you will find some practical samples of the above mentioned functions. Some of these can briefly be described as follows:
- Backplot
CIMCO Edit v7 includes a 3D Mill / 2D Lathe graphical backplotter to simulate your 3-axis mill and 2-axis lathe CNC programs inside CIMCO Edit with step and continuous forward and reverse plotting. You can edit the CNC program and the update is automatically reflected in the plot. Use the dynamic zoom, pan, rotate and measuring functions to analyze the plot. CIMCO Edit v7 supports solid visualization of NC code with toolholder collision check and gouge detection. Supports saving NC backplots as a DXF file.
- File Compare
If you are not certain if two CNC-programs are identical, CIMCO Edit's File Compare functions help you to pinpoint the differences. File Compare lets you choose two files that are then shown in a two-frame window. Any differences will highlight in color. You can step through the files, navigating with ease to each difference.
- Transmission (DNC)
The DNC part of CIMCO Edit v7 lets you send and receive CNC programs to your workshops CNC machines using reliable, configurable DNC RS-232 communications. The file can be sent from a window in CIMCO Edit v7 or directly from the disk. The file transmission is done while you simultaneously work with other CNC programs.
